By accessing and using this website and The Y's accommodation services, you agree to comply with and be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, please refrain from using our website or accommodation services at the Y’s venues.

2. Bookings and Payments

Booking Confirmation: All accommodation bookings made through our website are subject to availability and confirmation. A booking is confirmed only when you receive a confirmation email from us.

Payment Options: We offer flexible payment options, including paying at the time of booking or upon arrival. Payment methods accepted will be specified during the booking process.

Cancellation Policy: Cancellation terms vary depending on the type of booking. Please refer to the specific cancellation policy provided during the booking process.

3. Guest Conduct

We are committed to providing a safe, secure, and friendly environment for all guests. By staying at our accommodation, you agree to:

Respect Others: Conduct yourself in a manner that does not disturb other guests or staff.

Adhere to Policies: Follow all house rules and policies provided upon check-in or displayed within the premises.

Prohibited Activities: Refrain from engaging in illegal activities or behavior that could harm others or damage property.

Failure to comply with these guidelines may result in immediate termination of your stay without a refund.

The Y Hostel Terms & Conditions

1. Bond for Long-Stay Guests (7+ Nights):

  • A $50 refundable bond is required for all stays of 7 nights or more.

  • The bond is payable at check-in and may be used to cover:

    • Damages to rooms or property

    • Excessive cleaning

    • Unpaid charges or incidentals

  • Provided no issues arise, the bond will be refunded within 5–10 working days after check-out.

2. Credit Card Pre-Authorisation for Short-Stay Guests (Less than 7 Nights):

  • A $50 credit card pre-authorisation is required for all stays of less than 7 nights.

  • This is a temporary hold (not a charge) and will be released by your bank after departure, typically within 7–10 working days, depending on your card provider.

  • Guests must provide a valid credit card at check-in. Failure to do so may result in refusal of accommodation.

3. Age Restrictions:

  • Guests must be 18 years or older to stay independently.

  • Guests under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian aged 18 or over, staying in the same room or dorm.

  • Valid photo identification is required at check-in to verify age.

4. General Conditions:

  • All guests are responsible for the condition of their room and shared spaces.

  • The hostel reserves the right to withhold part or all the bond or pre-authorised amount in the event of damage, misconduct, or breach of hostel rules.

1. Standard Terms

1.1 Offer is subject to availability and valid for new bookings only.
1.2 A booking is confirmed only once a confirmation email has been issued by The Y.
1.3 Offer is valid only for reservations made directly with The Y, unless otherwise specified in the rate setup.
1.4 Offer cannot be used in conjunction with any other promotion, package, corporate, group, wholesale, contracted, or long-stay rate.
1.5 Offer is not valid on existing bookings. Existing reservations cannot be cancelled and rebooked to access the promotional rate.
1.6 Blackout dates, minimum stay requirements, room/bed type restrictions, and limited promotional inventory may apply.

2. Bookings, Payments, and Cancellations

2.1 Payment terms (including prepaid, non-refundable, or pay on arrival) will be as specified at the time of booking.
2.2 Cancellation and amendment policies are as per the selected rate plan at the time of booking and will be displayed during the reservation process.
2.3 Any cancellation fees, no-show charges, or penalties will be applied in accordance with the selected rate plan.
2.4 Any amendment to travel dates, room/bed type, occupancy, or length of stay may result in the promotional rate no longer applying, and the booking may be repriced to the best available rate at the time of change.
2.5 If a booking is cancelled and rebooked, the promotional rate will not be honoured unless it is still available at the time of the new booking.

3. General Stay Conditions

3.1 All bookings are subject to The Y’s standard accommodation terms, house rules, and guest conduct policies.
3.2 Standard check-in and check-out times apply unless otherwise agreed in writing.
3.3 Bond or credit card pre-authorisation requirements apply in accordance with The Y’s accommodation policies.
3.4 Guests must meet age requirements and identification policies as outlined in The Y’s accommodation terms.
3.5 Any incidental charges, add-ons, parking, luggage storage, upgrades, or extras are not included unless expressly stated.

4. Offer-Specific Terms

4.1 Valid for new bookings made between 12:00am (NZST) on 12 April 2026 and 11:59pm (NZST) on 14 April 2026 only.
4.2 Valid for selected stay dates between 1 April 2026 and 31 July 2026, as determined by The Y.
4.3 Offer provides 20% off the applicable public flexible room-only rate, unless otherwise specified in the booking system.
4.4 Offer applies only to selected room/bed types (dorm beds only) and selected dates, as determined by The Y.
4.5 Offer is subject to limited promotional inventory. Once allocation is exhausted, standard rates will apply.
4.6 This promotion is time-limited and may be withdrawn or closed early once occupancy or booking pace targets are achieved.
4.7 Where the promotional rate is loaded as prepaid or non-refundable, full payment will be required at the time of booking.

5. Right to Modify

5.1 The Y reserves the right to amend, extend, or withdraw this promotion at any time, subject to bookings already confirmed.

4.2 The promotion provides one complimentary night within the 5-night stay, applied as a discount equivalent to the lowest-value eligible night.
4.3 Offer applies only to selected room/bed types and selected stay dates, as determined by The Y.
4.4 If the stay is reduced to fewer than five (5) nights, the promotion will no longer apply and the booking will be repriced to the best available rate for the revised stay.
4.5 Offer cannot be split across multiple bookings, transferred to another stay, or exchanged for cash, credit, or other benefits.
4.6 This offer may be closed, restricted, or removed from sale on specific dates or room types where occupancy, booking pace, or length-of-stay targets have been met.

5. Right to Modify

5.1 The Y reserves the right to amend, extend, or withdraw this promotion at any time, subject to bookings already confirmed.
